Who I am...
...Father, husband, teacher, writer, Brooklyn escape. From 2010 to 2013, I taught Multi-ethnic Literature, Creative Writing and Expository Writing at Hunter College and served as the Coordinator of the New York Juvenile Justice Initiative where I collaborated with philanthropic foundations and exalt. Together, we created and guided the NYJJI Youth Council, an empowerment program for young men and women on the spectrum of the criminal justice system. Prior to my teaching at Hunter College, I created and taught in The Scholars Institute, a culturally relevant and sensitive educational enrichment and literacy program for court-involved youth.
From 2013 to 2016, I taught at Colegio Nido de Aguilas, an international school in Santiago, Chile. In 2014, I was invited to be a Visiting Writer at Phillips Exeter Academy and awarded a grant from the Cultural Affairs Department of the United States Embassy in Chile to create and facilitate teaching workshops for Chilean teachers in impoverished agricultural communities. I love to read and write. I love the art of story and sharing. My novel, Hold Love Strong, was published by Simon and Schuster. |
